ProfileCounty Mayo Citizens Information Services Ltd. was established in 2000, as a non-profit Company, Limited by Guarantee and with Charitable Status in tax law. This brought together four independent services, which existed at Castlebar, Claremorris, Ballina and Belmullet respectively under a countywide Board of Management. County Mayo Citizen Information Services (Mayo CIS) provides individuals with information and advice on all your rights and entitlements and provides advocacy services where required. The service has five main offices in the county: Castlebar, Ballina, Claremorris, Belmullet and Westport and provides regular outreach services at a number of locations throughout the county. Currently the service employs one full time development manager, one fulltime Information Officer, a Disability Advocate and 14 part-time staff, 8 of which are part of a community employment scheme. Also, Mayo CIS has 8 fully qualified volunteer information providers who offer an average 3 hrs of service per week. The service is free, confidential and independent and is part of a network of over 80 centres throughout the country.
